Playing with Tigers in Chaing Mai

Tiger Kingdom

One of the first things you are pulled toward when you get to Chiang Mai are all the different options to meet and greet exotic animals. The taxi walls are covered in pamphlets enticing you to see elephants, snakes, monkeys, crocodiles, jungle cats, you name it. After our first week in Chiang Mai we decided on Tiger Kingdom. After going we heard that it gets quite crowded, with hour long wait times but we didn’t have any problems at all. We entered the pen with the baby tigers about ten minutes after we arrived. The two we played with are three-month-old twins named Pepsi and Sprite. I asked the trainer if he’d just made those names up but he told me he didn’t. The cubs were playful, cuddly, and convinced us that if we get a pet together it should probably be a tiger.
