So Long, Sedona! Post June 6
2013:
Despite the beautiful setting of our amazing campsite,
neither Kate nor I got very good sleep.
We got a slow start around 7:30 and decided it was little too chilly to
start bathing in the creek so we set about making some delicious chilaquiles
for breakfast. We slowly broke camp as
the sun began to rise in the sky and warm up the surroundings. We even gave the truck a bath :)
It also just so happened to be a perfect backdrop for some
killer pictures!
After getting packed up we put the Tacoma back into low
range 4X4 and started crawling back up and out of the canyon towards pavement. A nice little detour cut our exit into about half of the time of
the entry.
I had to catch up on some HexFlex stuff so we headed towards
the library - yet again.. BORING…
Then we jumped back in the truck and headed towards the
Grand Canyon – And what a GRAND Canyon it is!
A little about Nate's View on Camping:
Camping is fun! Camping is Great!
Camping outdoors with your whole neighborhood surrounding you...
Not so great...
So we found some great dispersed campgrounds down a forest service rd just outside of the park boundaries which means they are FREE! So lets do some math.
$12/ per night for 5 nights will save $60. That means:
An extra tank of gas
or
several 12 packs of beer
or
spending a night at a hotel later on in the trip
or
using it to rent bikes the next day : BINGO :)
